John Belushi is a boorish pervert in this. It says a lot about us men that we consider him to be the definitive college man.
I originally hated this film, but I saw it when I was in high school and had not yet experienced college. Needless to say I was still innocent to the shenanigans that go on on campus. Some of the elements in the film did not stand the test of time, but it's still hilarious and enjoyable. Sometimes I long for another comedy to be produced like this one. They simply can't get it right anymore. A true classic.
Landis. A brilliant man with a feather's touch - his films are more substantial for their sense of verisimilitude than complex explorations of emotions, though one cannot help but note his mastery of comedy and timing - an auteur if ever there was one. It's a shame that comedies do not receive the kinds of awards they deserve - especially when a career includes so many films that are now part of the lexicon.
This film has an atmosphere that immediately drew me in when I first saw it, and has kept me there ever since. I watch this very rarely, so when I next watch it, the atmosphere is still there. All the characters are pitch-perfect, and Belushi is excellent. 5/5 - One of the best films of all time.
I love this film. Brings me memories of grade school when I first saw it. Belushi still cracks me the fuck up. I love this cast of characters. RUI, what kind of comedies do you like? I bet, in general, I'd agree with you along the lines of what a poor comedy is (Porky's, American Pie 2), but not here, not today. And no JOSH RYAN, "we were just leaving."
watched 4 first time today and humour was best when it didn't make sense like the noise of ladder not being heard banging on wall of quiet room 4 peeping tom 2 watch pretty girl undress and eating golfball like a marshmallow!
