Nuit et jour is a dreamlike, unrestrained and free-spirited exploration of a menage a trois, that marries romance and alienation, and freedom and its impossibility. The outstanding aspect of the work is for me its consistent dreamlike landscapes: Akerman employs many semiotic mirrors and slowly, Jack and Joseph almost seem to converge into one character. She reliquinshes time, jumping from day to night, night to day, weekday to weekend, weekend to weekday without notice. An outstanding work.
