Bringing his stage play to the big screen, playwright Toa Fraser tells the story of an aging woman determined to revive her family traditions — even if she’s the only one who still cares. With the rest of her family embroiled in their busy, big-city lives, nobody seems to have time for the widowed Nanna Maria (Ruby Dee). But her ambitious plan to hold a party in the tradition of her native Fiji may force them all to re-examine their roots.
