This reminds me of the subplot in Kidnapped! by Robert Louis Stevenson, where David Balfour’s father and his brother (Ebenezer Balfour) both loved the same girl. His father got the girl, but Ebenezer got the house and money. This reminds me of the conflict between to two sons and the reproachful behavior of the sons mother. This could also be in correlation the Prince and the Pauper, where the soldiers brother stole his land and sweetheart. It would be interesting to see what influences this quaint movie has 4/5.
