You know, I expected Nurse Ratched to be the cruel villain that everyone made her out to be and Murphy to play the hero. Murphy ended up looking like an annoying delinquent with Nurse Ratched mostly just doing her job to suppress him. Did I miss something?
is it just me or is nurse Ratchted kinda hot?....
This is a great film. Powerful and gripping with Nicholson and Fletcher at the top of their form. Superb direction from Milos Forman providing a great portrait of these characters and their lack of sanity.

Superb performances from all. very moving, very funny...and very sad
Saw this first in my sociology class of all things, so I didn't expect it to be that good. I was surprised though, because it's fantastic! You wouldn't really expect a film about a mental hospital to be as engaging, fun but equally dark to be such a good and thought provoking thing to watch.
Con razon gano un Oscar (en el '75 que ahi si que valia!)............atrapado sin salida se queda este gallo al darse cuanta como lo dominan desde el cerebrote con pastillas y dictadura max dentro de un psiquiatrico.......enfermeras cara dura y otros enfermos que intentan amotinarse a su favor pero sin resultado cuando se dan cuenta que no tienen nada mas que eso .
Is the story of a free spirit making the best of his stay at an insane asylum. The characters are well formed and there are plenty of entertaining moments to help stomach the bittersweet ending.
Great movie, and the book is even better.
I like it but remain a bit amazed at the cult-like following and reputation that it has acquired over the years. It's a good film, but I still don't see it as Nicholson's or Forman's best.
A primeira metade me desanimou um pouco. Pensei que seria mais um filme cliché sobre hospícios, caricato e piegas. Mas a segunda metade é surpreendente. Um aspecto negativo é como as mulheres são tratadas no filme: mudas, compassivas, autoritárias, desonestas ou dependentes dos homens. Enfim a visão superficial de Hollywood.
Que increible TODAS las actuaciones, sobretodo la de DeVito y Jack.

One of the best films ever made.
Milos Forman is a solid, stylish filmmaker who has been behind some of the most outstanding and often unseen classics in cinema. Cuckoo's Nest is rightfully considered his masterpiece though The People vs. Larry Flynt is a worthy second. Jack Nicholson is brilliant in this film and clearly shows us the great things to come in a career that continues to surprise and entertain 35 years later.
I can't think of another film that compares to it. Great cast, great storytelling, great message.

It's one of the greatest character dramas of all time, with flawless performances by the cast. I've seen it numerous times and it still packs a hard dramatic punch, especially the final act.
First time seeing this and I loved every second of it. I'll have to check out more of Milos Forman's films
Powerful performances, fun and somewhat chaotic moments mixed with an almost perfect pacing, offset with a bittersweet ending.
This films best performance for me is Fletcher's.Then Nicholson.
