I watched this age 13 and it blew my mind with regards to the boundaries and possibilities of femininity, identity and imagination.

I'm really bored of feminism in general, and yet I love this film. I don't know why, I just find it very enjoyable.

I love this movie. The light Sally Potter uses is beautiful. Besides it suits the film and Orlando's nature so well....

S - Then you know as good as I how good it is to travel, like a free-spirit, unfeathered by position or possession. O - Unfeathered... Are you an adventurer by profession? S - My profession, you can call it that, is the pursuit of liberty, like the bright shade of some imortal dream which walks when temper sleeps. O - The wave of life stalks dreams.

Aside from the amazing acting, screenplay, story, directing, cinematography and costumes, the style, score and editing made this highly enjoyable. Very different from my first screening. Now it has much more depth. The theme and messages it conveys makes this one of my favorite films.

I always think that Virginia Woolf's works won't be adapted because of their undefinable emotions but with Orlando, Sally Potter did an almost perfect job.

IF you forget the book, its marvelous prose, and so on BUT because the book is so great, Orlando the movie is good and Sally Potter a promissing director

A wonderful 80s-wafting costume drama based on Virginia Woolf's book of the same name, Tilda Swinton reigns supreme in her lead as Orlando, a male nobleman in England during the 1500s. To add more to this synopsis would be wasting it for you, but let me just say this: this drama is also comic, spans centuries, focuses on love, gender and class and is epic in the true sense of the word. Invigorating and recommendable.

A film with such complex themes that nonetheless carries itself over with simplicity, poise and beauty. Tilda Swinton plays the androgenous hero/heroine with a calm innocence through 400 years of English history.

Very intriguing story, though like Mrs. Dalloway’s film adaptation, it seems to lack the depth of Virginia Woolf’s work. Outstanding performance by Tilda Swinton. Every time she looks to the camera with her pale skin and inquisitive big eyes it feels like a great epiphany!

'Orlando' plays out as a feature of both the adaptation genre, costume drama and an experimental film. Together they form an elegant well crafted comedy/drama, Swinton's gaze is as fond as Potter's cinematography - it is a timeless and flawless film, from the international production to the apt tongue of language. It is a treat for any viewer, casual or a cinephille. Superb!

Orlando (1992) DIR Sally Potter SCR Sally Potter, Virginia Woolf 93 Min “Conversation is the place where one plays with ideas.” Brilliant, and brilliantly done.
