Doyle's was the funniest.
Filled with enjoyable shorts celebrating the city of light, Paris Je T'aime completley fulfilled my love for Paris. Some of my favorite shorts were: Quais de Seine, Tuileries, 14e Arrondissement, Faubourg Saint-Denis, Pere-Lachaise, Place des Fetes, Parc Monceau and Quatier des Enfants Rouges
i've heard so many mixed opinions about this movie from people i know but i must say, i absolutely loved it. some vignettes were a little weird, but some were just breathtaking. they all had a touch of melancholy, and i thought that's what made this movie so special.
lots of very lovely, romantic & funny short-movies... i really liked almost all..!
when it's sweet, it's really charming, when it's bland, it's, well, bland. best segments: paramedic, vampire, lonely woman in paris, oscar wilde, red coat, natalie portman.
so many of my favorite people in this! binoche, kurylenko, moreno, bekhti, dafoe, wood, ardant, hoskins... a lovely film.
Best Segment:Faubourg Saint-Denis Segments I Liked:Quais De Seine,Tuileries,Loin du 16e,Porte De Choisy,Bastille,Tour Eiffel,Place Des Fetes,Pigalle,Quartier Latin,14e Arrodissement. Segments I Didn't Like:Le Marais,Place De Victoires,Parc Monceau,Quartier Des Enfants Rouges,Quartier De La Madeleine,Pere-Lachaise. Worst Segment:Montmartre
Some of the films were interesting, a few were completely stupid, few were great but the coen bros' was amazing!!!
Alexander Payne is like the kid who did his homework when everyone else in class slacked off. He's the only one who brought his A-game. “14th Arrondissement" is a genuine masterpiece of character study in short film form. I could watch it a million times and still discover nuances.
Alexander Payne, Isabel Coixet and Tom Twyker in my person top 3. Christopher Doyle's short was ridiculously awful. Vincent Natali's vampire short is the runner up for worst. Nothing could top Doyle's.
Gurinder Chadha's, Isabel Coixet's, Olivier Schmitz's, Tow Tykwer's and Alexander Payne's shorts are worth being watched. Coen Bros', Wes Craven's and Sylvain Chomet's shorts were quite offbeat and fun. On the other hand, Van Sant's and Doyle's shorts were very bad and useless.
Some of these are truely good short films, but there were alot I didn't like. i didn't know Gus Van Sant could make a movie that bad. Wait Psycho.
Interesting to observe how, in a collective movie, it's easy to spot the directors who play the game, who took Paris as star of their film in this case, and those who are unable to adapt their artistic world to an imposed subject. So, for instance, Gus Van Sant and Vincenzo Natali completely missed the point here. Too bad because the film as a whole is very enjoyable. Highly recommended.
Tried to watch this one but apparently I could only reach minute 80 out of two full hours. Frustrating. However i definitely enjoyed most of the shorts which were part of it, especially the Coen brothers's part which was so typical of them (violence illustrated in a fun way), Sylvain Chomet's little story about the love between mimes (a must see for mime-haters. haha) and of course Alfonso Cuaron's twist-ending film
