This is what I would call the epitome of Rock n Roll cinema. Deeply Moving and an extremely personal work of art. THe camera follows Patti Smith on a journey of finally saying goodbye to friends and family who died and in the end her finally having peace.

I think what really got me was the total difference of Patti’s stage persona ( a rough and tough power house who would totally win you in a fight) to a loving mother of two whom travel with her on the road. Seeing her visit her parents is a real treat. But then there’s the music, the poetry, the images. Probably the best Rock n Roll film ever made.

(of course I am comparing this to other personal rock n roll films like Gimmie Shelter, Let It Be, 200 Motels, and Head which are all worth seeing as they all have something to say about the artist that you are watching and the world around them)
