Untitled

I have seen a few Irish made films before, but this is the first I have watched about the traveling community of the country.
What I liked about this film was that it humanizes these people that there is such a social stigma about, it shows that they still feel and think, and if they steal they do it out of desperation rather than greed.
The character of Winnie who the film follows is a middle child of a large family and as a person seems ‘lost’ and ‘confused’ about the purpose of basic things such as education. She seems an angry person due to her school life, but the reality is that this is due to her families situation and how the council and country treat travellers, and how the travelling community as a whole do not fit into mainstream irish culture.
Even though I was touched by this film I gave it 3 stars out of 5, some elements of the film mainly involving the son of the family seemed vague in parts, and after watching the film I felt that the boy ( the son ) had more to offer as a part in the film rather than what he was limited to.

A very insightful film, and done by a director who is familiar with his subject. Worth a watch.
