I like to stop this movie after the crazy desert sequence when Mr. Swayze says that this time they both lose and we just get a shot of him riding off in his car and Keanu and Lori reunited. Mr. Busey’s final scene is a little muddled, but over all the movie is badass. Particularly if you leave that final tsunami sequence out of it. But Patrick Swayze earned my respect in this role, I’d actually go so far as to say he deserves an honorary Oscar for what he does here. What? Really? Yes. His character was written and acted complexly, and though I may not enjoy him in any other movie (mostly because I’m a guy) I can’t let that affect my judgement. He was awesome. So was most of the movie. The president masks were an awesome idea. And it doesn’t stop being entertaining. This is what The Fast & The Furious (which I do like) wishes it could be.
