Pretty much a perfect terrible film. The best part is Gary Busey's gushing praise for meatball sandwiches; "Utah, gimme two!" So, so awful and yet so wonderful, kind of like meatball sandwiches.
guiltiest pleasure; a little easier to admit since bigelow became the first female best director oscar winner
One of the most preposterously successful action films ever made, and one of the finest American films (yes, I'm dead serious) of the 1990s. Some kinda masterpiece. Hurt Locker, eat your heart out.
Deceptively good movie. a tale of brotherhood no matter which side of the law you are on.
are we gonna jump? or just jerk eachother off? just one more wave man! what a massive pile of sh*t Hurt Locker was good though
"That is your surfing contact? Female, blue eyes, black hair, five foot six, one hundred and nineteen pounds. God, Utah!" Way back when, Gary Busey was a reasonable man. For the record, I enjoyed the opening bank robbery scene here more than I did the one from The Dark Knight. This film feels like a Michael Mann film if Mann let himself have a little more fun.
Pure fun, plain and simple. This is not a movie meant to be taken seriously, but instead wears it's fun on its sleeve along with great one liners and suprisingly good performances across the board. In my opinion, this has the greatest performance and character of Patrick Swayze's career. It's a modern day classic, perfect for the nights where you and a few friends gather around to slam down a few beers.
