Chaplin in 1915

By Neil Bahadur on January 23, 2011

A reconstructed version of this using footage which Chaplin shot for Life (his intended first feature) exists, and it goes to show how far Chaplin had progressed at this early stage in treating complex subjects. Police originally was “Life” before the project was taken from him and cut down to a two reeler. The two reel version of Police has interesting elements, and Triple Trouble, made with the unused footage from “Life” years after Chaplin had left Essanay is quite funny, but the reconstructed version of this moving film is a masterpiece.
