Imperfect, but indeed smart... The casting of McHattie a masterstroke. Regrettably, the doctor's character was poorly written/acted and as such, took me out of the film at several points.
This is one of the films that if you think about the concept too much it totally falls apart. Builds incredible tension for the first 2/3 though...
Really surprised by this film. The setting is perfect and the concept was intriguing. I love when a horror film keeps me this involved in the plot, completely curious to see what happens next and invested in the characters.
its a very unpredictable plot but youll have to give it a chance. its pretty smart and will play on something that happens to everyone that you never think about. don't read any synopses about this film. just watch it. very surprising and enthralling.
quite enjoyed it a mixture of hg well`s radio broadcast of war of the worlds with a hint of romereo/res evil thing goin on,with a different slant though.
Some good acting and cinematography. The film succeeds on Mazzy's performance--much like his radio show--and the fact that much is told, and not shown, is a testament to the quality of both the script and the acting. I found the first half of the film arresting. Really, all of it--until the major reveal. Zombies would have been more convincing.
I liked it. I really liked it. It was solid and exciting and everything that's good and true about cinema. That is until the "Kiss is Kill" bit. After that, it lost me.
Original and smart horror movie. Quirky like The Happening , thoughtful and deep like The Mist.
Never a dull moment. A incredibly difficult challenge considering the environment. One of the greatest and most inventive horror/Sci Fi/Thriller i've ever seen.
Talk about re-inventing a genre! Pontypool is a fresh take on, not only the most cliched of all movie genres, but on modern cinema. "Less is more" is the key when talking about this excellently delivered thriller. But don't be fooled, there is huge profundity under the minimalism.
