Completing his film internship in 1993, Teboho wrote and directed many projects including the award-winning GHETTO DIARIES. In 1999, together with Angus Gibson, he wrote and directed the highly controversial 13 part series, YIZO YIZO – winning Best Director and Best Drama Series at the Avanti Awards – South Africa’s equivalent of the Emmys.
PORTRAIT OF A YOUNG MAN DROWNING – a short film he wrote and directed, won the coveted Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 1999. In 2000, he completed a short television series – UNGSHAYA DING DONG – and developed, co-wrote and directed the second season of YIZO YIZO. Yizo Yizo 2 has gone on to win multiple awards throughout the world, been invited to festivals and museums and studied at universities such as NYU and Cambridge.
Teboho has been honoured by the ANC youth league for his directing work and was awarded the coveted “Tribute entertainment achiever award” by President Thabo Mbeki.
