my go-to film for curing heartbreak. Leibowitz is kick-ass on her own, without a man in sight. maybe this isn't the right reason to like Public Speaking but so what.
Fran Lebowitz is funny. I can realize that for myself, I don't need Scorsese laughing hysterically before she opens her mouth to remind me that. His giggling ruins much of the documentary
Martin Scorsese is also an outstanding documentary filmmaker! This is one of his best documentaries, together with Shine a Light and A Letter to Elia.
Como faz falta uma Fran Lebowitz brasileira.
the blind art collector.
and other stories.
A wonderful talk about everything. Kinda hipnotizing.
Wonderful observation of the fascinating Liebowitz. Nothing revolutionary done on the documentary scale, but this film is a pure delight.
I didn't know of Fran Liebowitz, a famed New Yorker, jewish writer, infamous wit. As this documentary starts, she states that "There is no more suitable and potent image/symbol for our time than the image of the blind art collector. [...] I think that sums it up. If you were gonna write just a history of the era, you should call it 'The blind art collector, and other stories'." She talks much, and says a lot. Potent.
Not a great documentary, per se, but Fran Lebowitz is a damn interesting character.
Lebowitz's simplicity and honesty is so amusing. A great look into the society and what's around it.
I could listen to Fran Lebowitz all day. Amazing.
I love every second of it.
