I am not a big fan of Sally Potter, but this was a refreshing and positive surprise. Most of these actors do not actually need much direction, in my opinion, and they have made the parts their own. The characters are engaging (all of them blown up stereotypes, of course), the screenplay has a natural flow and the minimalist mise-en-scene lets you concentrate on the storytelling. There were weaker moments, because you need actors with a strong presence to make this kind of concept work, but the subtle humour works well.
