Following his film about music and war in Iraq, Soundtrack to War, Producer/ Director George Gittoes slices into the mirky underbelly of the Giant Land of the Free. Rampage is another Gittoes journey into the forbidden zones—America’s war in Iraq, and in its own backyard, life in a Miami ‘hood—an exploration of hiphop’s musical innovations, as important as the field hollers, the blues, and jazz, which also began in the black ghettos, and went on to evolve as major music styles.
Rampage has been screened at Berlinale, MOMA New York doc Fortnight, Sydney Film Festival, Melbourne Film Festival, Vancouver Film Festival, Montréal Film Festival and Chicago Film Festival.
Man, fuck this director. What an exploitative douchebag, with no understanding of the culture. He should be shot himself for the sensationalism he portrays. Not to mention the garbage ass sound-bytes of gunshots and women screaming obviously lifted from a generic soundbank. Up yours, 50 year old white man. (Although I do applaud you actually trying to help them.)
