"Red Riding Trilogy" is some of the best of the decade.

By Evan on June 14, 2010

Ridley Scott is set to combine the three stories into one film, set it in Pennsylvania, and create an Americanized version. Whatever comes as a result of that will end up being a completely different sort of thing entirely, in the same way that countless other recent films have been Americanized. The fact that the whole story is told in a trilogy contributes a hell of a lot to the character development. In addition to this, the set-up with the three different directors is what makes the Trilogy feel like a trilogy, and makes the separation between years in the story believable. How many other crime films (or recent ones in general) can you think of that have this kind of set-up? It is by far the most compelling thing I’ve seen in a long time, and it’s exactly the sort of visual style that I fall in love with.
