Is it comedy? Is it horror? What is actually happening? Who’s REALLY doing WHAT? This is a movie where you never really know until the end, but even with the complexity at hand, there are no plot holes to fall into. Plus, its somehow not to difficult to follow despite the story’s layers. However, Roman de Gare is still about as fun as mystery flicks can be. Its skillfully paced and skillfully conceived. A tip of my hat to a wonderful cast of actors as well. BOTTOM LINE: One of the most deliciously unpredictable movies I’ve yet seen, with a golden screenplay to boot.

A fast pace, tightly written film, that mixes mystery with a series of surprises. The characters in this film are well drawn and believable, while they journey upon a unique plotline. The two main characters have interesting interactions and quickly draw you into the movie. Although the film keeps the viewers attention, there is nothing spectacular about the directing from Cloude Lelouch or directing style. The film’s writing and acting though merit multiple viewing. Recommended.
