Chuckie’s dad, Chazz, starts dating again, and it’s Chuckie’s wish to find a new mom. When Stu Pickles is summoned to Reptarland, an amazing new amusement park in Paris, to work on his motion-controlled Reptar invention, Tommy, Chuckie, Angelica, Phil, Lil, Dil, Didi and the whole gang tag along to the city of romance. But the Rugrats’ big adventure turns out to be more than glamour, fashion and smelly cheese. Chuckie learns that when it comes to princesses and potential mommies, things are not always what they seem, and for Chazz, finding the right woman can be difficult in any language. As the Rugrats’ travels take them from the Eiffel Tower to Notre Dame and everywhere in between, the world’s favorite babies learn new lessons about courage, loyalty, trust and above all, true love. —IMDb
Probably the point where the franchise started to wear out its welcome. Chuckie's new sister is an un-necessary addition to the group, the jokes are based way more on bodily functions than usual and the jokes just don't hit quite as well as they used to. The first movie worked because the the concept of babies in their own world was still there. This one went too big!
Well, I personally thought that this film was a vast improvement over the just-okay first one. Better animation, better jokes and an overall better story. The first movie did at least have more of a cinematic feeling to it than the show, but I felt that it could have been better and this sure is!
I really enjoyed the first one. This one was fine, but like Stefan said, it began to become a bit too dry, repetitive, and conventional. All the fun, excitement, and suspense in the first film was sort of sucked out. This isn't intolerable, but man, watch the first one and then watch this (I pulled a double header where I watched both back to back) and you'll see that the first was a way better film.
Actually, funny enough, I did do a double viewing of the first two Rugrats movies several monthes ago and I actually found this film to a lot more engaging and funny than the first one, but different strokes, I guess.
