The first truly great film about relationships I have ever seen (at the Kaunas Film Festival). Saw some really good films on the same subject since (In the Mood for Love stands out), but htis film remains in my all-time all-genres top-5.
The film that tells a lot by not saying a lot. A great piece of art.
Beautiful, unsettling, and otherworldly. An impressive debut.
This film refuses to turn away from the ugliness and violence of dispossession. These kids have nothing, not even themselves. But it never lets us turn away either, and that will be uncomfortable for some, and revelatory for others. Great film-making, and extraordinary, unforgettable performances.
Argh. Expected better... **
I liked it though I found that few moments were too boring
It's been a long time since I've seen a film that let's the sound design do the talking. Bleak as hell though, and not sure I'm that into the last third of the film..
The best cinematography of all Australian films in recent years. A balance of the spiritual and the tragic.
One of the bleakest films I´ve seen in recent years, "Samson and Delilah" brutally examines the desperate situation of aboriginal outcasts in modern-day Australia.
Stunning performances and ideally shot for story, this groundbreaking Indigenous film shows so much promise for a potential auteur in director Thornton.
