A mediocre actress plays a rich white southern woman who is independent and stubborn takes something downtrodden and turns it into a champion all whiLe sticking it to the male establishment. WOW, SANDRA BULLOCK AND DIANE LANE’S CHARACTERS ARE EXACTLY THE SAME. Seriously though, Diane Lane’s performance is much better than Bullock’s in a superior film with great below the line production. Lane’s performance would be better if the the screenplay for this film wasn’t so obsessed with cheesy philosophy about winning and the beauty of horses. Every now and then her lines come off as laughable.
