Selena was born in Lake Jackson, but moved to Corpus Christi, my hometown, fairly early in her short life, and died here at a Days Inn after being shot by her fan club manager. This film was a huge success in Texas when it was released, even being dubbed into Spanish at one point to lure in a larger audience. I haven't seen it in years, but I'd think it would hold up decently compared to other biopics of its time.
