When a struggling Hollywood actor (Ken Leung) learns that the grandmother he never knew has died, leaving him a house in a country he’s never visited, he’s forced to reexamine his Chinese heritage and reevaluate his romantic entanglements. The best thing he has going back home is a questionable relationship with a 16-year-old genius (Hayden Panettiere). But that’s before he goes to China and meets the woman who could be his soul mate (Kelly Hu).
A deeply flawed, but sweet movie with good intentions. If you can ignore the more than obvious influence of the highly superior "Lost in Translation," it's a fun watch with good performances and funny moments. Ken Leung is a very capable leading man, and Hayden Panettiere is charming and beautiful as always.
