Guy Maddin’s tribute/parody of Anger, Genet and no doubt other gay experimental filmmakers of the past. A bunch of hunky half-naked sailors lounge around on a tropical stage set. An old man with a bicycle tells them he’s going to go buy condoms and while he’s gone, no slapping! But boys will be boys. I really don’t know enough gay experimental cinema to compare this to its sources, but on its own terms this short is hilarious, danceable, incredibly edited and the perfect thing to play when Mom comes over to visit.
