Snakes and Earrings

Self-described “fashion victim” Lui (Yuriko Yoshitaka) is an unfulfilled young woman searching for more to life than simply shopping and clubbing when she meets Ama (Kengo Kora) and his tattoo artist friend Shiva (Arata), who uncovers Lui’s most secret desire: pain. A sadomasochistic, angst-ridden love triangle ensues in director Yukio Ninagawa’s thought-provoking take on author Hitomi Kanehara’s novel of the same name.
