Ricardo Montalban stars as young scientist Federico Vascon, who’s on a mission to locate a stock of plants needed to produce precious cortisone in this subtitled Spanish-language adventure set in the thick of Mexico’s Veracruz jungle. He soon encounters a man (Víctor Parra) who’s created his own world apart from society, but problems arise when his winsome daughter (Ariadna Welter) proves a tempting distraction for Vascon.
Roberto Gavaldón (born June 7, 1909 in Jiménez, Chihuahua — died September 4, 1986 in Mexico City) was a Mexican film director. Eight of Gavaldón’s films were featured on the list 100 best movies of the cinema of Mexico. His 1958 film Ash Wednesday was entered into the 8th Berlin International Film Festival and his 1959 film Beyond All Limits was entered into the following years festival.
