Was that CGI Men In Black alien singing a crap song for way too long always in this film? Can't remember that at all from my childhood, which is a surprise considering I remember pretty much every other scene vividly.
Remains my favorite Star Wars. It's just so goddamn fun.
Not as great as A New Hope or Empire Strikes Back, but a fitting end to the original trilogy. The ending is fantastic and fun in all its glory. The Ewoks don't bother me one bit. The hate towards them confuses me greatly. They give some much needed comic relief to the heavy storyline and they do so in a way that doesn't slow the movie down all that much.
Anyone who had lost their virginity by the time this movie came out should've known 10 minutes into it that the prequels were a bad idea. All of the weaknesses of the first two films are on full display. Jabba the Hut remains my favorite creature in the Star Wars universe, but this movie is just terribly executed on every level. Is there an online game where you can creatively murder Ewoks? There should be.
i like this movie a lot but i do not like the ewoks and i liked the ending it is a good movie but not the best star wars film.
Ce film se déroule plus sur la terre que sur la galaxie. D 'etrange créatures apparaissent tout au long du film transformant ce long-métrage un film d'enfants .Rien avoir au STAR WARS connu auparavant . Déjà oublié ,malheureusement
Muppet show. Already forgotten.
Odd to say but I find this film to be massively underrated. Sure, the Special Edition absolutely *murders* the Jabba's Palace sequence - to my eternal sadness - but moving past that, this is a fitting end to the trilogy. Mark Hamill is revealed as the glue that holds the entire series together. His plaintive reaction to Yoda's death (really, just a puppet when you think about it) is transcendent in the sci-fi genre.
The original version is a great, fun, rip-roaring yarn.
Finishing of the original trilogy this evening by watching Return of the Jedi all the way through for the first time. Now I can cross that off of my bucket list.
Downgraded to two stars in protest of the latest round of alterations.
apart from the ewok winnie the pooh bear attacks, its a great movie.
I'll have to disagree with most users here... this is just as good as it's preceders.
Definitely my least favourite from the original trilogy. The beginning was great, really enjoyable, then the end.... I don't even know.
completes a great trilogy
speeder bike chase, cool stuff as a kid :)
Ewoks. Fucking Ewoks. The last half of this film is an indicator of what was in-store for Star Wars fans.
One of the greatest cons in the history of cinema. Thought it was great when I was a kid, now it's clear that it's a rushed product, it's like taking the big beautiful check written by THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK to the bank and finding out it bounced.
The Ewoks have eaten 1 1/2 star in my rating. Still a nice ending, though.
Still a terrific film despite Lucas getting greedy, creating the ewoks and making star wars for kids and ruining it with the prequels setting him downhill towards the dark side of the force he created. At least its no noisy pointless Micheal Bay and conveys a message that even the most evil person can be redeemed if people believe in them. well worth the watch, skip the prequels watch the originals first.
Carrie Fisher looks gaunt. Harrison Ford looks bored. Mark Hamill looks pissed. I love this movie.
Much better in its original form, although the puppet they replaced with the godawful CG is almost as bad as the replacement.
Whether it's the strongest or weakest in the original trilogy, it's still part of the trilogy. Certainly not my favorite but it has it's place.
like others have said, by far the worst of the original trilogy. its conclusions often feel forced, and like a bad sequel in perfect form, retreads a previous plotline
but it's still film magic. the universe of Star Wars is always worth experiencing, and the final scenes are some of the best in the series
The weakest of the original trilogy.
The first half with Jabba is perfect, but Lucas kind of went over the top with the Ewoks. They would have been cute if they were in it for, say, ten minutes, as opposed to taking up an entire hour.
I missed the growing up part of life where I realized the Ewoks were crap. I still love them.
