Redeemed by the second half as the set-up is pretty all over the place. Actually, maybe the whole thing is, but at least the tension ramped up after awhile.
An engaging thriller with an interesting story lines with enough twists to keep the suspense on. A strong cast adds kudos to the film and a particularly powerful soundtrack that further enhanced to the tension build up. Only draw back is that the complex scenario needed to untangle too quickly near the end in order to keep the film within a viewable 2 hour duration timeframe.
Solid political thriller from director Kevin Macdonald clearly emulates the conspiracy thrillers of the 1970s. Smart and well-crafted with strong performances from a stellar cast (though Ben Affleck is miscast, and doesn't quite reach the same level as the rest of the cast). Will it go down in the pantheon of great movie thrillers? No, but it is solid entertainment.
Pretty good thriller - I'd give it a 3.5/5. Add to that pretty good adaptation. Great concept, cool twists, awesome score, some brilliant supporting roles. The thing is, I have just watched the British miniseries and I have to say that it is one of the greatest things I have ever seen on TV. Go out and watch it if you can - it is sublime.
