some of the most masterful dialog I have ever encountered. The greatest screen adaptation of Williams’ work(aside from Streetcar) and quite possibly one of Taylor and Hepburn’s greatest performances. Years before his direction of her in Cleopatra, Mankiewicz seems to bring out the full potential in Taylor and brings her personality to life lacking the one tool she usually plays off of: unsurpassed beauty. This film still shakes me to my core, and i’ve seen it enough times to memorize scene dialog, changes in tone, and character cues. I will call it one of the greatest films, despite it’s hailed level of mediocrity to the masses.
