Tarzan was a small orphan who was raised by an ape named Kala since he was a child. He believed that this was his family, but on an expedition Jane Porter is rescued by Tarzan. He then finds out that he’s human. Now Tarzan must make the decision as to which family he should belong to. —IMDb
Chris Buck (born October 25, 1960) is a American film director known for directing Tarzan and Surf’s Up. He also worked as supervising animator on Home on the Range and Chicken Little.
Buck’s other credits at Disney include the 1995 animated feature Pocahontas, where he oversaw the animation of three central characters: Percy, Grandmother Willow and Wiggins. Buck also helped design characters for the 1989 animated blockbuster The Little Mermaid, performed experimental animation for The Rescuers Down Under and Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, and was an animator on The Fox and the Hound.
Buck helped develop several films at Hyperion Pictures and served as a directing animator on the feature Bebe’s Kids. He storyboarded director Tim Burton’s live-action featurette Frankenweenie and worked with Burton again as directing animator on the Brad Bird-directed “Family Dog” episode of Steven Spielberg’s Amazing Stories and as director of the subsequent primetime animated series.
Casi olvidada al dia de hoy, esta cinta de dibujos animados de los estudios Disney fue parte de la continua racha de exitos de los que gozó la casa productora durante los años noventa (aunque todo se les empezó a ir al carajo tras el descalabro artistico y economico que fue Pocahontas). Aunque vistosa y divertida como todas las peliculas Disney de ese periodo (para su exhibición en México, el doblaje de Tarzan y Jane corrió a cargo del fallecido Eduardo Palomo y la insoportable Lucerito), uno terminó con la impresión de haber presenciado poco en lo que se refiere al aporte de esta cinta a la mitologia creada alrededor del popular personaje. Ahora bien: al dia de hoy, yo no me he tomado la molestia de volverla a ver y comprobar si es cierto lo que se dice de este film acerca de su supuesto contenido subliminal (segun se dice por ahi, si uno reproduce esta pelicula a la inversa, es posible apreciar durante todo el film candentes escenas de sexo explicito que harian sonrojar al mismisimo Tinto Brass). Desde aqui, hacemos un llamado a algun interesado en hacer la prueba e informar sobre el resultado.
