Tender Souls

A man in his 50s who pursues women in their early 20s gets both more and less than he bargained for one eventful night in the leisurely Tender Souls. A roundelay of mostly thwarted romantic encounters commences as Jacques (Berleand), a penniless painter, prepares a seduction dinner with student Claire (Laetitia Coti) but gets locked out of his apartment in his undies. His mismatched borrowed clothes become a running joke as his over-eager neighbor, Helene (Laure Duthilleuil), misleads his ex-wife, Christine (Aurore Clement) — who is looking for their runaway son, Sebastien (Thibault Boidin) — about Claire’s identity, saying she’s the son’s fiancé. —Variety
