Interesting movie utilizing "future sports" cliche, before it was even invented by exploitation business... good creation by Marcello Mastroianni, but overall askew and losing script's potential.
What a cheeky little clever film combining elements of dark comedy and preposterous but amazing visuals. A film that not only peaks on entertainment value, but also has a method to it's own madness as keen social satire.
A rollicking and razor-sharp satire. Its commentary on society and the role of the media in it is years ahead of its time, while never taking itself too seriously. And it’s stepped in 60s Italian cool, aided by charismatic performances from Marcello Mastroianni and Ursula Andress, and a weird peppy score by Piero Piccioni. A cult classic that deserves to be better known.
"What a life! In the hospital can't shoot, in restaurants too. In the church, in barbershops, even in orphanages, now you can't shoot anywhere!"
campy fun, with enough social commentary in the story to keep the intellects going..
This must have been quite a revelation for its time: a futuristic fantasy about legalized murder, long before other films played with a similar theme. Le Decima Vittima is showing reality TV antics about three decades in advance. A chillingly forward-thinking 60's sci-fi film, it's so stylish and fun - not to be missed.
