A movie made more than 70 years ago, and I still couldn't predict any plot twist. The humor is still up to date, as I laughed at many scenes. No one does it like Hitchcock. A must see.

one of those overrated films that people who don't really know american classic cinema history elect as a masterpiece. the story is superficial and boring (how many times does the hero have to escape so the audience understands he is the hero??) and, in the end, unrewarding. there are no actual characters, just figures in a boring plot, saved from total wreck by ocasional but unsufficient flashes of direction.

"one of those overrated films that people who don't really know american classic cinema history elect as a masterpiece" Sort of like those who don't know a fucking thing about Japanese cinema claim Seven Samurai is a masterpiece.

Brilliant little thriller with touches of romance thrown in. Moves along at a brisk pace and keeps the suspense factor high. Highly Recommended.

None of the film versions of Buchan's novel bear much resemblance to the original story but this adaptation is far and away the best of the bunch. Falsely accused of murder, Richard Hannay flees to Scotland where he has several adventures including a witty and erotic interlude where he is handcuffed to one of Hitchcock's archetypal blondes. Great chemistry between Robert Donat and Madeleine Carroll in these roles....

One of the funniest thrillers ever made- people being shot, stabbed and laughed at. Hitchcock's sadistic dry humor, love of blondes and fascination with sexual perversity makes for a fun evening.

One of Hitchcock's earliest "wrong man" thrillers. A good, engaging film, but perhaps executed with a bit too stiff and formal of a style -- Hitch would have real fun with the formula in many, better films to come.

Wildly-constructed but very entertaining. Another proof of Hitch's glorious sense of humour. Robert Donat and Madeleine Carroll make a wonderful couple while being chained together during an escape through the moors of Scotland.

Arguably the greatest of Hitchcock's British period and one that stunningly incorporates all that we love of Hitchcock.

still has the power to 'shock' after all these years - the sharp dialogue is great and some of the effects still pretty good. As usual wirth Hitch the characters tend to grip. If they remade it now it would be crude and cgi-d to death

What I liked: The scene with the handcuffs and its sexual implications, the scene between Robert Donat and Lucie Mannheim in the apartment, the rythm of the film, the scene in Crofter's house. What is, according to me, outdated : the chase in the moors. Highly recommended, though.

This film is beautifully paced and has every element of great entertainment--danger, suspense, mystery, even humor. Even today, the film there is nothing so dated as to break the suspension of disbelief.

I just watched this last night. I really enjoyed it. It covers some interesting ground for the main character, it's more than just a Thriller, it has some great comedic moments that I think steal the show. Of course amazing direction and shot beautifully.
