Synopsis

After the death of his son, Macon Leary, a travel writer, seems to be sleep walking through life. Macon’s wife, seems to be having trouble too, and thinks it would be best if the two would just split up. After the break up, Macon meets a strange outgoing woman, who seems to bring him back down to earth. After starting a relationship with the outgoing woman, Macon’s wife seems to think that their marriage is still worth a try. Macon is then forced to deal many decisions. –IMDb

Lawrence Edward Kasdan (born January 14, 1949) is an American film producer, director, and screenwriter.

Early life

Kasdan was born in Miami, Florida, the son of Sylvia Sarah (née Landau), an employment counselor, and Clarence Norman Kasdan, who managed retail electronics stores. His brother is the writer/producer Mark Kasdan. He was raised in Morgantown, West Virginia, where he graduated from Morgantown High School in 1966. His family is Jewish.

He graduated from the University of Michigan with an MA in Education, originally planning on a career as an English teacher. He won a Hopwood Award for writing during the time of his studies. He was a student of Professor Kenneth Thorpe Rowe.
Career

"You a baltimore man? Me too." Great script. Poor sound. Good characters. Poor direction and or the dialogue is too formal -in which case the script isn't that great and, yes, this is actually a bad movie.

I fell in love with this movie the first time I saw it. I return to it again and again. The characters are fully realized and warmly depicted. It is cinematic comfort food for me. Every time I watch it I feel healed by it.
