Synopsis

This is the story of a lonely man named John. He lives his life alone trying to connect with anything or anyone he can. Sometimes, it’s hard to tell the difference between hysterical laughter and hysterical crying. —Quinzaine des Realisateur

Tender and heartfelt: a set of theme and variations: a set of encounters between lonely urbanites. If parts of it are a little too cute (the bird in the AC) most of it is pitched just right. If some variations don't quite come off (the 'asshole'), many do: especially the relationship between the protagonist and the Iraqi gas station operator. So much better than more cynical and knowing stuff made nowadays.
