The zingers keep the film from being another fluffy feel good comedy about drag queens. As a road movie, it essentially distills down to an outsiders finding their company with other outsiders. The scene in which the trio perform with the aborigines is touching without being entirely saccharine. Terrance Stamp steals the show though Hugo and Guy Pierce performances keep up, in and out of drag.
This is less a film about drag queens and their quest for acceptance than one about breaking out of a life that you have out grown.
such a great movie with lots of funny moments, cool quotes & good discussions. all 3 have done a very great job as drag queen.
Proof that Terence Stamp, Hugo Weaving and Guy Pearce are tremendously underappreciated actors today.
Filmed in my home town, so there's a little bit of nostalgia for me. The pub/hotel they are in with the ceiling paintings is where I had my farewell before I moved. Cool little film.
Brash and bustling but eminently enjoyable romp, ticking-off most hetero friendly gay jokes as it goes. Stamp offsets the shrieking tone of the film with world weary grace.
