From acclaimed Croatian filmmakers Goran Devic and Zvonimir Juric comes a film vilifying the crimes of their own people.
Set during World War II, The Blacks follows the tale of a fictional paramilitary group as they set out to retrieve the bodies of fallen comrades, a mission that gradually reveals the true horrors carried out under the cover of war.
Sparking controversy amongst Croatian audiences with its strong anti-nationalist sentiment, The Blacks is a hard-hitting portrayal of the war crimes allegedly committed against the Serbian people during WWII, and their link to the acts of slaughter perpetuated a half-decade later. –MIFF
Tensions flare among a paramilatary group and three wind up dead. The film than looks back at earlier that day to find out what drove these soldiers to their actions. If this sounds interesting trust me it is not. Devoid of action, characters or story this film at 73 minutes still feels like a lifetime has gone by in watching it. Interesting score though.
I only liked two things in this movie: camera angles on some parts and that droney music in the background. I see this as nothing else but classic boring croatian war film.
