One of the original it is so bad it is good movies....incredibly colorful, and endlessly entertaining. A true B-movie classic.
my thoughts exactly are that of Michael Gildea's below as follows: "Unless you're a hardcore Steve McQueen fan or love cult classics, there's no reason for you to see The Blob. More silly than anything, it comes across like a polite Rebel Without a Cause that happens to have a formless flesh-eating alien in it." he says it best!
The Blob was recently the subject of an entertaining mini-documentary by James Rolfe. The docco follows the residents of Pheonixville, Pennsylvania during their annual "Blobfest". An amateur production but a good laugh. Find it here: http://www.cinemassacre.com/2010/12/28/blob-town/
oh, while I watch this movie, I hope that would become 'classic SF' fan. pure entertaining.

One of my favorites for two reasons, one of course is Steve McQueen, the second is that it was filmed about 15 minutes from where I grew up. The theater that the Blob attacks still exists in Phoenixville, PA. One of these years I am going to make it for Blobfest (right around the 4th of July)...
Nice cars, nice colours, nice dresses. Bad screenplay, bad dialogues, bad actors, bad film. I usually like cult movies but I don't think that THE BLOB deserves a place in this category. It seems that its only value consists in allowing a certain American generation to remember the fun they had in the drive-ins. It's very laudable but that's all. A DVD zone garbage can.
C'mon, how much more classic can you get? this film is a pure American film. The whole movie is exiting and just completely fun to watch. the blob is one of the most iconic film creations of all time. Pretty good for a creature with no definite shape. Oh and it's in color!
