The Brig takes place inside the belly of the beast, which gurgles and creaks with degradation, humiliation and torture, where men are driven to the edge of their lives and their sanity, constantly oppressed by their former comrades, reduced to mush, rendered soulless, spiritless, hopeless and gutless. Here is a film which grabs you by the collar and throws you into a cell with ten others condemned to relentless torment; a film that doesn’t let you think, breathe or blink for its duration; an utterly believable film to which all others pale in comparison. I feel no hesitation in labeling The Brig the greatest horror film ever made.
