Synopsis

A poetic guitarist Eric Draven is brought back to life by a crow a year after he and his fiancée are murdered. The crow guides him through the land of the living, and leads him to his killers: knife thrower Tin-tin, drugetic Funboy, car buff T-Bird, and the unsophisticated Skank. One by one, Eric gives these thugs a taste of their own medicine. However their leader Top-Dollar, a world-class crime lord who will dispatch his enemies with a Japanese sword and joke about it later, will soon learn the legend of the crow and the secret to the vigilante’s invincibility. —IMDb

Alex Proyas is an innovative and versatile filmmaker, with a penchant for large-scale science fiction productions. Maintaining prolific careers in both commercials and feature films, Proyas often uses the smaller venue as a testing ground for his big screen imagination, an inspired move that has rendered him a master of visual imagery.

During his first year at school, Proyas wrote and directed Groping, the 1982 Best Short Film winner at both the Sydney and London Film Festivals. In his second year, he formed a production company along with two peers, called Meaningful Eye Contact. Dissatisfaction with school led Proyas to drop out in 1984, as he began directing music videos through the firm. The success of his video… read more

A masterpiece of film noir, epic darkness, & poetry mostly due to Proyas's vision & the superb last performance of the late, gifted, Brandon Lee, and a stellar supporting cast, including the always wonderful Ernie Hudson. My Interview with "The Crow's" author & illustrator James O'Barr. http://guitarinternational.com/2011/10/04/interview-with-the-crow-author-artist-musician-james-obarr-let-the-picture-tell-the-story/

I love this film, but I have to admit that when T-Bird starts chanting "There ain't no coming back" he could be saying that there will be no returning to the quality of the film before and including that scene.
