Synopsis

CW Briggs is a veteran insurance investigator, with many successes. Betty Ann Fitzgerald is a new employee in the company he works for, with the task of reorganizing the office. They don’t like each other – or at least that’s what they think. During a night out with the rest of the office employees, they go to watch Voltan, a magician who secretly hypnotizes both of them, in order to use them for his dirty schemes. The next evening already, Briggs makes his first robbery, and when he wakes up in the morning he has no memory of it. Things get really complicated when he starts investigating the case. Will he be able to uncover… himself? –IMDb

Woody Allen

Actor, director, screenwriter, and playwright Woody Allen redefined film comedy during the 1970s, bringing a new measure of sophistication and personal complexity to the form. Born Allen Stewart Konigsberg in Brooklyn, NY, on December 1, 1935, he adopted his stage name at the age of 17, and in 1953 enrolled in NYU’s film program, and soon dropping out of school to begin writing for comedian David Alber. Two years later, Allen graduated to writing for television; during his five-year in television, his efforts won him an Emmy nomination. He eventually decided to try his hand as a stand-up performer. After slowly gaining a reputation on the New York-club circuit, he became a frequent talk show guest and in 1964 issued his self-titled debut comedy LP. With 1966’s What’s Up, Tiger Lily?, a puckish re-tooling of a Japanese spy thriller complete with his own story line and dubbed English dialogue, he made his directorial debut. In 1969 Allen directed two short films for a CBS television special… read more

"the virus can't survive in your blood-circulation, you're too cold..." a very funny & entertaining crime-comedy. Allen & Hunt are great arch-fiends - last but not least - hate me, to love me.

Awful. Even before I knew how good Allen was i knew that this wasn't even close to standard. The rare abysmal failure from a great artist.

It's definitely a nice try but this film falls a bit flat. The chemistry between Helen Hunt and Allen is nice but never goes beyond that, interesting but just not working! As always Allen's films are beautifully shot!

'CONSTANTINOPLA'

Woody Allen makes us laugh for decades and continues to do it with his increadibles and originals screenplays. ‘The Curse of the Jade Scorpion’ is an example. Staring as investigator C.W Briggs, Allen…  read review

This is the bottom of the barrel as far as Woody Allen movies go. Given how many movies Allen has churned out over the years, he’s going to squeeze out a turd every now and then, and he seems to do…  read review
