Tightly scripted and paced sci-fi, it's like an extended "Twilight Zone" episode, which is the highest compliment.
watch in widescreen. beats the remake hands down.
Probably the most restrained and intelligent piece of 1950s sci-fi. Just hearing Bernard Herrmann's score makes me smile from ear to ear.
Incredibly entertaining. Excellent message. Okay acting.
Michael Rennie's smug, one-dimensional characterization is so bad that it almost - ALMOST - brings the whole thing down. How I miss Keanu's Klaatu!
I might try to watch it again some day but I fell asleep during the film only to be awoken by some of the really dissonant sound effects that sounded like the equivalent of nails on a blackboard.
Fantastic Sci-fi movie. One of my favorites from my childhood when my mom would watch it. I actually was fortunate enough to meet Patricia Neal when I was a wheelchair attendant at the Cincinnati Airport. I had a cup of tea with her as she talked about Gary Cooper and Roald Dahl and her children. Fascinating and kind person, and great in this movie among others.
