Zéro de conduite!
I remember watching this film countless times as a kid. Returning to it now after experiencing many of the best films cinema has to offer, it is still as good as i remember it. If that isn't a compliment i don't know what is. Sometimes we need to remind ourselves this is why we started watching films in the first place: the fun.
Its campy and over the top.... which only adds to just how much fun this movie is. Really enjoyable piece of entertainment.
I remember watching this the first time on laser disk, one of my all time favorites.
If she never does another quality film I'll always love Milla Jovovich for this one.
Stylistically way too derivative and many, many missed opportunities... Gary Oldman bench tests his super-super gun but then no-one uses it...
I normally don't care for a shallow and campy aesthetic, but this movie is a notable exception to that rule.
The first time I saw this movie I had a good time but didn't think too much about it. Somehow it got under my skin and began to grow. (No,wait... that's "Alien"... anyway...) Over time I kept flashing on scenes and lines from the movie. I saw it a few more times and finally bought the DVD. It just gets better and better. Because I know the dang thing pretty much by heart I'm amazed to always find something new! And it just gets funnier and funnier!
Best kind of big budget Hollywood sci-fi film. Style-wise, it is absolutely insane. The hyper-visual, strong, vibrant colours combined with an incredibly complex and original design both set and character make this an unforgettable experience cinematography wise. Other elements (lol) may not be as strong, but its rare to get such a strange, surreal sci-fi in Hollywood nowadays that overlooking flaws is an exception.
I did enjoy this movie. Yes, it didn´t made much sence, but overall the visual style and energy save a lot.
Fun, but a blatant copy of Jodorowsky's "El Incal" comic book. Of course, can't get as deep or surreal as the comic book so it's mostly a waste. Not worth it.
Enjoyed the visuals but was really turned off by the tone. But then Besson rarely impresses.
