yes indeed
Early Fincher keeping you guessing and completely exhilarated. The Game is not what you think...
I like the ending, he confronts his problems, is left powerless, and ends up not sure if he is playing the game, or just living. I find this movie incredibly enjoyable, it has all of Fincher's visual flairs but I love how dark they make SF. This is a deeper movie than I thought, it is essentially about suicide and coping with it, and the effects it can have on a family. I find myself grinning when he gets in the cab.
It's not too much fun watching a movie that never reveals itself for a single moment until the end - especially when the ending is so empty and ambiguous. Yet, Fincher still makes it so gloriously watchable.
Great moments (including a splendidly surreal conclusion), but there are too many uninspired sections for THE GAME to be considered anything other than an engaging curiosity.
I'm delighted that this mindfucker has so long passed me by, unspoiled, until this simple Tuesday evening. What a fun, wild ride.
I saw this film when it came out in theaters. I was mesmerized and engrossed by its visual storytelling. It quickly became one of my favorite films. Saw it again the other night in Criterion's superb LD edition. Still holds up.
Love this movie, one of my favourites. Frantic, smart, stylistic. Feels almost like a modernised version of A Christmas Carol.
I really liked this film until the lame "twist" ending. It had so much going for it. It seemed like such a cop out.
