A spy, disguised as a painter, induces a gipsy girl to flirt with a young Balkan military lieutenant for the purpose of getting from him the secret plans of a fortification. The gipsy girl’s blandishments take effect, but the lieutenant’s traitorous act is detected, and he is arrested. He is condemned to be shot, but the girl, having fallen in love with him, hastens to appeal for clemency. She arrives too late, for her lover is shot, and she is arrested and imprisoned for life.
