Many things have been said about the French cinema and its films with no soundtrack. However, the new generation of directors adapted their styles. Dagur Kári isn’t an exception. Born in Paris, he studied in Denmark and brings to us his first English-language film. Well executed, ‘The Good Heart’ has a simple screenplay written by Dagur, showing us Lucas (Paul Dano), a homeless boy, who receives help from Jacques(Brian Cox), owner of a bar who tries to teach Lucas the rules of his bar and maintains his legacy, until April, a pretty woman askes for help but Jacques denies. Besides the simple screenplay, Dagur developpes it pretty well and makes a great analysis of the transformation in the personality of the characters. The performance of Paul Dano and Brian Cox attend the expectations, not forgeting Isild LeBesco(April) who execute well your work. Paul Dano have shown a great acting and promising career. This film confirms his works. Dagur is also a great director but here, he seems too shy about showing his talent. It’s a moving film. Its end constructes a beautiful metaphor.
