Here’s a very good quality film about the life of Christ that is rooted in the Gospel. Nothing beats these religious films encompassing religion, spirituality and entertainment, the benefit being of course exercising one’s own religious imagination by placing the viewer in the scenes of the scriptures. And now I sometimes recall certain scenes during tasbeha which really punches me in the face. And if merely recalling this punches me in the face, you can only guess how much this movie beat me up when actually seeing it, especially near the glorious ending where the Theotokos and relatives visited the empty tomb and were greeted by the angel. I was actually disappointed at the “look” of the angel (and the actor who played Jesus, among other things), but after I saw that scene, it’s like someone pulled duct tape from my brain and everything fell into place. Can’t forget that scene when Jesus heals the leaper too. I love the directing, He just says the word, and so bluntly the camera shows the man healed like that with… that… song playing… I remember when I finished this, I was filled with :)‘ism that I couldn’t find anything in my iTunes to play to level my satisfaction. The cinematography is also convincing enough to keep you from washing the dishes. May God grant us all the grace to lead a life of holiness according to His all holy and perfect will and glory be to God forever, Amen.
