So did I. The way a Rohmer character talk is unique really.
As a Capricorn who recently went to Ireland alone on vacation, this resonated in unexpected ways...
The main character seems to be irritated with life and all the living things(she's vegetarian and lives like a herb) I have no problem with this but the paths that lead her to the green ray, thus life (the play cards found, the elderly people's talkings and the shop which is shown as a sign) is entirely ridiculous.
Is there anyone who didn't leave the theatre feeling like they saw Delphine in themselves
It's a film for those who are hopeless in love. I hope they find their own green rays. <3
Conversations with Rohmer's character are never boring. I love this film dearly. I wish I had the same green ray in my life.
My favourite of Rohmer. One of my favourites of history. Nothing more to say.
An interesting character study with some very ultra-realistic dialogue. The last shot made the whole depressing world of Delphine worth sitting through.
Brilliant character, brilliant settings, wonderful dialogues, and cinematography. Time treatment is pretty similar to Claire's Knee which also sets during summer Vacations. I really like this particular movie, especially Delphine's carachter which wonderfully represents, like Slowheart previously said, fear, anxiety and depression.
brilliant script, delphine represents fear, anxiety, depression and the audience is in the heart of this thunderstorm, the moments of silent despair are beautifully shot, uncomfortable episodes with delphine's inability to communicate are very lifelike, although it's more of a parable, what made me wonder most of all is that the ending doesn't seem sentimental, it's god's good will
This film was very personal and real to me. What sets Eric Rohmer apart from most other directors is the way he sees people. I enjoyed every single conversation.
Will anyone be able to handle conversation based filmmaking like Rohmer could?
Delphine, c'est moi... My favorite Rohmer - not only because I find myself very simmilar to Delphine.
