I guess, like everyone else, i thought the film was “so so”, yet the acting was pretty spot on. there just wasn’t any meat to the film, you were just kind of along for this boring ride. kind of like being in the car with your family right after someone got into a fight and are not speaking to each other. i might have been able to tolerated it a bit more, but the scenery wasn’t even all that gorgeous, probably due to the sub-par cinematography.

I think there was a decent film at the bottom of this mess, Frears just failed to find it
